I have yet to see a comparison between the all-new Sony A7II and Canon 5D MKIII, so decided it was time! There are many similarities between the two cameras, though you wouldn't know it just by looking at them. They are both full-frame, both around 24mp, both with microphone and headphone jacks. Other than that, these are two completely different beasts.
On one hand, you have the Canon 5D MKIII, the tried and true workhorse of the photography (and somewhat videography) industry for years. It is dependable, durable, ergonomical and above all, it takes some excellent photos. Then you have the Sony A7II, the all-new second generation version of the mirrorless full-frame powerhouse Sony that sony introduced last year, but this time introducing some new much appreciated features like the revised hand grip and shutter and 5-Axis In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS or as Sony calls it, SteadyShot).
From my review, you may feel that I am partial to the Canon, but this is in no way true. I simply feel they are two completely different cameras for two completely different purposes. While you can do the same type of photography, one is built for use and abuse (5D) while the other is built more as a complimentary or special purpose camera (A7II).
